Javier’s is an upscale Mexican restaurant chain with multiple locations in southern California, Las Vegas, and Mexico. HansonLA is the architect of record for its Crystal Cove, downtown Los Angeles, and Pasadena branches.

In the case of the Crystal Cove Javier’s, the scope of work involved improvements to an existing restaurant. The freestanding structure, located on the Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach, needed a kitchen upgrade and expansions for outdoor seating and a small retail store in which to sell the company’s tequila. HansonLA made these additions possible, putting focused care into the 240 seat, all-seasons patio. The patio’s notable features include a custom retractable roof, a curvilinear wood bar with seating, and integrated landscaping.
