The Project which is located in Las Vegas, Nevada is an expansion of the Blind Center of Nevada’s, current headquarters and Day Center and will include affordable housing for 135 residents. The onsite housing will provide easier access to essential services and employment. HansonLA is the interior architect for the project.

Our approach to the design was to create a multi sensorial experience that would be inclusive of all the senses. We used sound, light and colors but exaggerated each when appropriate so that the physical space we designed would contribute to their well-being and aid them in their pursuit of independent living.

We were inspired by books written in brail. The feel of the paper and exquisite patterns and textures created by the words led us to materials for the walls and floors that had the same characteristics. We added as much natural light and color as a way finding tools highlighting the experience for the residences when they are in the public spaces such as the lobby and community room.
