HansonLA is an award-winning architecture, interior, and urban design practice located in Los Angeles. Established in 2010, it evolved from a firm that began in 1998 and has a portfolio of over forty national and international projects. Their projects include cultural, commercial, mixed-use, and residential types and range in scale from object to urban campus. HansonLA provides comprehensive architectural services, including pre-design and programming, design and documentation, and construction and project management. It also offers expertise in brand coordination, design research, and master planning.
Collaboration is central to HansonLA’s operations. Its clients—public and private institutions, large corporations and small businesses, developers and individuals, and government organizations— are partners in the design process. HansonLA has an extensive network of allied consultants that actively inform and expand the office’s work. The firm is an experienced facilitator of community engagement and involvement.
Purpose
HansonLA believes that architects not only build buildings, but neighborhoods too. They design using the principles of placemaking—enhancing the experience of place for the people who use it. Through their Support DTLA Arts initiative, HansonLA raises funds for the arts in Los Angeles;donations benefit organizations including City Ballet of Los Angeles, Heidi Duckler Dance Theater, District Gallery, and Arts for LA. The firm works also with Skid Row Denim Academy, aiding their mission to unite fashion design and sales with job training and mentorship for the formerly homeless residents of Skid Row Housing Trust.
Design
