In a collaboration with Gehry Partners and Wolfgang Puck, HansonLA is the architect of record for a landmark restaurant at the terminus of Sunset Boulevard into the Pacific Ocean. The project replaces an existing, nondescript tavern with an expressive building that reads as simultaneously biological, naval, and technological in form. The new two-story, 15,000 square-foot facility accommodates a ground-level dining hall and bar and a second-level event space. Wrapped in a skeletal structure, it also shelters the beachfront path and a large public deck with a carryout café and retail store. It plans for the crowds by siting a new three-hundred car surface parking lot.
